Help for Veterans in America's Heartland
Here in America’s heartland, we care about our veterans, and the Midwest’s Career Network is here to help. Finding a well-paying job that uses the valuable skills earned during military services can be a huge challenge for people completing their military service. If you’re a veteran re-integrating back into civilian life, finding appropriate opportunities is sometimes overwhelming. Today, Mid-America Careers can help.
We’re thrilled to announce a new feature on the Mid-America Careers job site. We now support the Google Cloud Talent Solution feature offering military operational specialty code (MOS) code job search functionality to help veterans find jobs. This job search feature enables transitioning military service members and veterans to find relevant civilian jobs available right now at Mid-America Careers.
This feature allows US military service members and veterans to enter their military occupational specialty code (MOS, AFSC, NEC) and find relevant civilian jobs that require similar skills to those used in their military roles. An estimated 250,000 military members enter civilian life each year. By creating a feature for transitioning service personnel to use their MOS codes to find civilian jobs, Mid-America Careers and Google Cloud are helping to ensure that military personnel can easily find job opportunities that align to the skills they acquired in the military.
How The Cloud Talent Solution MOS Code FeatureWorks on Mid-America Careers
Veterans can now enter their MOS, AFSC, or NEC code directly into the search bar on the Mid-America Careers homepage and see the relevant civilian jobs available in their area. Military ranks codes are supported in the system. For example, both “11A” for Infantry Officer and “11B” Infantryman are supported.
The feature is part of a new initiative from Grow with Google. The Grow with Google initiative helps create economic opportunities for Americans by drawing on Google’s 20-year history of building products, platforms, and services that help people and businesses grow. Through this initiative, Google aims to help people across the United States grow their skills, careers, and businesses by offering free tools, training, and events.
“Mid-America Careers has always been passionate about helping our military veterans find meaningful careers as they transition to the private sector, ” said, Nick J. Murphy, CEO of Mid-America Careers. “By collaborating with the team at Google Cloud, we’re able to remove a lot of friction and confusion from the search experience and get veterans in front of the best career opportunities for them based on their experience and skills.”
“We owe a debt of gratitude to America’s service members and we’re committed to helping them thrive in civilian life, ” said Tarquin Clark, Director of Partnerships & GTM, Google Cloud. “By working with industry leaders like Mid-America Careers, we can help veterans transition from the military to relevant, impactful civilian jobs.”
